Defining company initiatives and getting buy-in

The Wave Money application was just one part of a large amount of items to improve for Wave to deliver the best business banking experience to its customers. I worked with product, engineering, and design to rank each item Wave Money needed to improve to identify themes. A common friction point to many of the improvements was the underlying technology in Wave Money. It was making it difficult for us to move at a suitable pace. I identified other experience factors that were also suffering. Many of these experience factors were not feasible with the current technology stack.

By working with product, engineering, and design, I was able to get momentum and buy-in to address the underlying technology. This was prioritized as part of a 6 item company initiative to ensure we got resources and support. The company initiatives were influenced by principles of design and research.

The Wave Money application got a significant improvement through research and design. In order to address the next improvement phase, we needed to rebuild the technology foundation based on engineering feedback.

In response, the company launched an initiative that included building one unified mobile app. To accomplish this, I worked with the product manager and the research team on a discovery phase to help shape the company’s mobile strategy. Through this initiative, key user experience factors could be unlocked to allow Wave Money to be the single source of truth for business owners.
