Wave is a financial services software company that caters to small businesses. It offers services such as invoicing, accounting, and payroll management.
In 2019, Wave acquired Every, a startup that offers business bank accounts to small businesses.
This acquisition was key to the company's strategy of becoming the single source of truth for small businesses.
I was tasked with designing what the Wave Money account would look like in the Wave ecosystem. I began with the card branding, as it was the most static and constant visual element.
Expanding on this idea, I investigated the impact of gradient patterns on shapes and explored new possibilities.
Exploring the gradient pattern, breaking it down to it’s elements.
Thanks to the design system pattern library I created in Central Banking, we could see all the areas a bank account was represented in Wave, assess the potential impact to those areas, and contrast Wave Money visually.
Bank accounts are typically made up of a header which shows the institution, and the associated accounts.
Wave Money is uniquely different, only having a single account. By focusing on a unified account structure, Wave Money simplifies the user interface and ultimately the experience. This unique approach sets it apart from connected bank accounts, highlighting the benefits of a consolidated system.
